Not Just Another Movement ...

The world is full of Christian movements: fundamentalist movements, evangelical movements, and charismatic or Pentecostal movements. Often these movements center around a famous preacher, or a specific type of miracle, or a style of worship or outreach.

We are not a movement, even though we have hundreds of thousands of members worldwide. Our goal is to function as a Body, which is the biblical model. The Body takes all its directions from the Head (Jesus), has coordinated movements, fully-integrated parts or organs, and shares the exact same life throughout every part. Achieving this requires a lot of commitment, purposeful decisions, and frequent reminders for our members.

We are not out to criticize or attack other churches or movements; but our members are surrounded every day by the dizzying array of movements in modern Christendom. It is important for us to set forth clearly how we differ from the Christian movements around us, so that we do not lose sight of the goal: to develop and mature as the Body of Christ.
